    Middle School at AAS prepares students for a smooth transition to high school by developing the academic skills, independence, organizational skills, and critical thinking necessary to successfully tackle advanced programs such as the IB Diploma Program and the American High School Diploma.

    Middle School

    What age range does middle school cover?

    Grades 6–8 (ages 11–14). This is equivalent to 6th grade of primary school through 2nd year of ESO in the Spanish system.

    Are classes taught in English?

    Yes. All core courses are taught in English, except for Spanish Language and Literature and Spanish History and Geography.

    How does AAS prepare students for high school?

    Students develop academic independence, critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills that prepare them for advanced programs such as the IB.

    Are there any extracurricular activities?

    Yes. Students can participate in sports, the arts, clubs, leadership activities, and community experiences throughout the school year. The range of activities may vary from year to year depending on students’ interests, participation, and demand.
