ACADEMICS

International Preschool Education in Madrid

At Aquinas American School, we provide an educational environment following the American curriculum, with a pedagogical vision focused on the holistic development of children aged 3 to 6. Our approach combines academic rigor, emotional support, and creative stimulation from the earliest stages of learning.
Our program is designed to strengthen four essential pillars in early childhood:

Autonomy

We foster independence and self-confidence

Creativity

We encourage imagination and natural curiosity

Critical Thinking

We introduce reasoning skills from an early age

Social Skills

We promote collaboration and empathy in a safe, respectful environment

Every day at AAS is an opportunity to discover, explore, and learn through play, developing key competencies through interaction with the world and peers, preparing children for a bright future.

Our Methodology: Learning Centers

At Aquinas American School, our methodology revolves around Learning Centers—carefully designed thematic spaces where students learn autonomously, cooperatively, and meaningfully. This structure respects individual learning rhythms and enhances the development of multiple intelligences.

Learning Centers invite children to manipulate, explore, and actively discover materials, fostering personalized learning that adapts to the diversity of the classroom.

Additionally, these spaces encourage autonomy and initiative, helping students develop strategies, skills, and competencies that enable them to learn independently, stimulating curiosity and confidence from the earliest educational stages.

Stages of the American Preschool Education System

The American Preschool Education system is organized into three progressive stages, each with specific goals and methodologies:

Kindergarten 1 (Ages 3–4)

The first contact with the school environment. Focus on emotional adaptation, routine development, socialization, and the introduction of bilingual communication. Through guided play, songs, stories, and hands-on activities, children begin building the foundations for school learning.

Kindergarten 2 (Ages 4–5)

Work habits are consolidated, and more structured content is introduced. Students develop phonological awareness, letter and number recognition, motor coordination, and cooperation. Intellectual curiosity is stimulated through sensory, experimental, and narrative experiences.

Kindergarten 3 (Ages 5–6)

Preparatory stage for primary education. Literacy, logical-mathematical reasoning, and simple problem-solving are gradually introduced. Full autonomy, emotional management, and the development of personal and collective responsibility within the school context are emphasized.
